Language Access, Appointment Justice & Patient Experience- Language should never be a barrier to quality cancer care, yet patients navigating care in another language can face challenges that go beyond access to an interpreter. How much time do patients have with their providers? Is there enough time for interpretation and understanding? Who provides care in a patient's language? How do scheduling practices and emerging technologies shape the experience?
Clinical Trials: Access, Equity, and Representation - Clinical trials drive the future of cancer treatment, but Latinx and other underserved communities remain deeply underrepresented in research. This means the evidence shaping new treatments does not always reflect the communities who will ultimately receive them. This session brings together academic and medical institutions to demystify clinical trials, address longstanding fears and barriers to participation, and explore how our communities can access these opportunities safely and equitably. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of what trials are, what participation involves, and why representation matters.
CHWs / Promotoras: The Heart of Community Health - Community Health Workers/Promotoras are the trusted bridge between our communities and the health care system. This session explores their role within the broader health care delivery system. Together, we’ll examine what it takes to strengthen this essential workforce, further integrate into cancer care and build a shared vision for culturally grounded, community-led care.
Healing Justice: Expanding What Cancer Care Can Be - What if cancer care made more room for healing in its fullest sense? This session invites attendees to imagine a more expansive vision of care, one that makes room for culture, community, traditional and community-rooted healing practices, emotional and spiritual well-being, rest, joy, connection, and the whole person. Through a health-justice lens, we’ll explore what becomes possible when cancer care responds not only to disease, but to the social and material conditions that shape people’s lives. Participants will leave with a broader understanding of healing justice and new possibilities for what cancer care can be.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) - Liver cancer affects our communities at disproportionately high rates, yet it is often diagnosed late and rarely discussed openly.
